Our mission
The University Counseling Center skill-building workshops and mindfulness programs support student wellbeing and success from a holistic, strength-based, culturally affirming, and person centered approach.
What we offer

Live Facilitated Mindfulness Meditations
Drop-in Mindfulness Sessions
Drop-in for a FREE facilitated 30-minute meditation session starting January 23, 2023.
Mondays @ 1 PM
Wednesdays @ 2 PM
NO registration required, just join our zoom meeting. Participants can attend as many times as they like so long as they are a student, faculty, or staff of the U. See our flyer for more information about how to join.
Drop-in meditation sessions are led by a rotating group of facilitators who are staff of the University Counseling Center. Sessions are not conducted during semester breaks or university holidays.
Skills Workshops
CULTIVATING CONNECTION
For Faculty, Staff and Students
This FREE 4-week relationship workshop is provided online, and is designed to help partners increase closeness by replacing ineffective conflict behaviors with positive interactions. All partners are asked to attend the workshop simultaneously, and it is highly recommended that they start at module one. Please, see the flyer for more information about content.

Individuals affiliated with U of U must register online to attend. Please, be aware that registrations submitted after the 2nd module of the series concluded will not be considered.

trauma triage
For Students
This is a FREE supportive virtual workshop offered in collaboration with the Center for Student Wellness, and is designed to empower participants with skills and knowledge to manage the impacts of difficult events they have personally experienced. It is provided either as series of 4 weekly sessions, or as a half-day long workshop, to accommodate different schedules. The workshop aims to provide an accessible space for campus members as a first step before accessing longer-term supportive services or as a refresher for folx who may want to increase their supportive resources.
- Series 3: Thursdays 4 - 5 PM, 3/23-4/13 (on zoom)
Campus members who are in active crisis are encouraged to utilize the UCC’s Crisis Services or other campus crisis resources.
All participants must register online to attend.
TAMING STRESS
For Students, Faculty and Staff
This is a FREE 4-week workshop provided in series of 4 modules. Some series are provided online (zoom link provided after registration), and others in person (see our location at the bottom of the webpage). Participants will learn effective and practical skills they can use to cope with stress, anxiety and depression, as well as the distress of these challenging times. building Resilience
For Students, Faculty and Staff
This is a FREE 4-week workshop provided in series of 4 modules. Some series are provided online (zoom link provided after registration), and others in person (see our location at the bottom of the webpage). Participants will learn and practice ways to increase their ability to recover successfully from life difficulties. While Building Resilience is a standalone workshop, its participants may greatly benefit from taking it as a follow-up to the Taming Stress workshop; however, this is not a prerequisite. mindful authentic living
For Students, Faculty and Staff
This is a FREE 6-week workshop, provided in series of 6 modules. Participants will learn and practice ways to increase self-awareness and self-understanding, to cultivate personal authenticity, and deepen life meaning. It is highly recommended that participants start attending the workshop at module 1, and commit to attending all modules to gain the most benefit from the workshop. INTERPERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS

Participants will refine skills to develop and maintain meaningful rewarding relationships, while engaging in them authentically. Please, see the flyer for more information about the content. It is highly recommended that participants start attending the workshop at module 1, and commit to attending all modules to gain the most benefit from the workshop.

Mental Coaching for Success
For neurodiverse students
This FREE 4-week workshop is offered by zoom (invitation provided after registration), in series of 4 modules. It is designed to help students gain practical skills to help with planning, organization, time management, focus, and avoiding procrastination. It is highly recommended that participants start at module one, if possible. See the flyer for more information about the content.

Mindful Work/Life Balance
For Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students
This FREE 4-week workshop is offered by zoom meeting (invitation provided after registration), in series of 4 modules. The workshop is designed to introduce participants to mindful strategies for balancing work-life stress. Come learn effective coping tools for navigating the responsibilities of different life roles as well as techniques for managing stress and anxiety.
